Abstract:
Recently SF6 insulating gas in the E-cooler's Pelletron was found heavily contaminated with air (~40%). One of possible negative consequences of the contamination is a decreased high voltage strength of the gas. The report describes the HV test, in which indications of a coming discharge on the gas side were observed at several different pressure levels of the gas. The main conclusion is that the gas-side HV strength is satisfactory for the normal mode of operation.
