Abstract:
Dancing bunches are explained as resulting from the loss of Landau damping. Quantitative theory is developed on a base of van Kampen formalism. A good agreement with the observations is shown. Resonant bucket shaking is suggested as a remedy to get Landau damping. Experimental confirmation (C. Y. Tan) is shown.
