Studies of the radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) and rebuncher cavity in medium energy beam transport (MEBT) line at Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) is presented in this talk. In RFQ studies, properties of the new SNS spare RFQ is presented and compared to the existing SNS RFQ.
Perturbation and tuning of the radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) is discussed with 3-D electromagnetic simulations.
Another RFQ vane-end termination scheme is presented as well with mode analysis and 3-D simulations. In MEBT rebuncher studies, a double gap cavity design is studied and discussed with various simulations and measurements. This design can relieve a potential X-radiation problem from cavity gap when vacuum condition is not maintained below desired level. Microwave measurement of a scaled cavity and simulation results of this design is presented here.
