CMS has ambitious plans for a track-trigger to meet the unprecedented challenges posed by the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC. I will present the front-end ASIC developed for the readout of the future Silicon Strip Tracker: the CMS Binary Chip 2 is a 254-channel, 130nm CMOS ASIC capable of identifying trigger primitives by correlating hits between two overlaying strip sensors. The front-end charge and gain amplifier are optimized for 5cm strips and can accommodate DC coupling for both sensor polarities. The chip adopts a bump-bonded layout and also includes a 256-deep memory buffer for 6.4us maximum latency, DC-DC converter and LDO for powering. Additional triggering logic allows for self-triggering operation of the chip. The CBC2 has been extensively tested, and I will present its performance including the results of the first beam test of the prototype module and total ionizing dose testing.
