Abstract:
It's been realized that the dogleg magnets which steer the beam around the extraction septa in the Booster have a deleterious effect on the injection lattice. This has been verified by measurement. Recently we had an opportunity to investigate the possible benefits of ameliorating this situation by removing one of the septa and turning off the dogleg. The results were dramatic.
