Abstract:
During the last decade, particle beam and laser-driven plasma wakefield experiments have demonstrated the acceleration of high-quality electron bunches to GeV energies in less than a meter. By contrast, little work has been done to demonstrate the tractability of plasma wakefield acceleration (PWFA) with positrons beams. In this talk, I will report on results from experiments at FACET which demonstrate the acceleration of positrons in the highly non-linear, mildly non-linear, and hollow channel regimes. Finally, I will discuss future experimental and theoretical work that will be needed to determine the viability of a positron plasma wakefield accelerator.
