1. Dept news: - Letter of Recognition was delivered to Bruce - he missed that event a week ago - Vladimir gave bi-monthly Tev status report (beams-doc-777), despite recent luminosity record 45.3e30 in store #2824, average initial luminosity is not as good as in early May because of 10% larger eff emittance, on the other hand eff emittancve lifetime is up (27hrs vs 18 hrs). He expects peak lumi before the shutdown to be within 45-51e30 (we got 48.9e30 in #2887 over weekend - congrats!) - per Jim Volk we are on a good track with the shutdown preparations. Octupole rewiring requires more detail consideration (Jerry, BPhysics). - Ron Moore has started prepartions to the new helix/sperators review which will take place at the end of Aug. This upgrade is the largest among Tev projects, to be completed in 2006. - Alvin asked whether new Ekotech cards can help to measure lattice functions in the A1 line, if yes - it'd make sense to borrow some 12-14 of them for the injection matching studies (Valery to respond) 2. Bruce reviewed last week operation : a lot of down time (16 hrs TEL HV modulator repair), two aborts due to RF trips, AQ7 overvolatage, ramp file coruption during loadng-reloading; but - good p and pbar lifetime at 150, pbar loss on ramp dropped from 12-14% to 5-8%. Six locations found (during Yuri's studies) where orbits are not well centered. Jerry pointed that D_x is large at these locations and it's not surprising that we see ramp losses at these locations. Stephen P. advised to use SBD intensities in the Tev store spreadsheet. Vladimir found numerical error 10/4pi in the eff emittance calculation (same spreadsheet). 3. Yuri and Ron were doing studies at the time of Tev Mtg - so no report, Vladimir gave brief explanation of what's going on. Vladimir also addressed the TEL HV modulator problem (cost 16 hrs of time 1 week ago). Plan for the TEL: a) finish the modulator spare fabriaction (2-3 weeks); b) XLZhang has started work on bringin the TEl control upto the tEv standards; c) explore possibilities of using high power dampers to clean the DC beam 4. Vic Scarpine described two systems to monitor RF phase oscillations in the TEV: slower scope-BLT digitizing RWM signal and faster Digital receiver connected to stripline A+B channel. Both channels report the same oscillations. D120 page is set for the regular measurements. Vic and Co will check how it works att the proton injection. Effect of lowering inj energy by 20MeV is clearly seen by the digital receiver system (the latter has time of arrival resolution of about 120ps). Jerry said that he approached MI guys to explore possibility of lowering the MI pbar extraction energy instead Tev inj one. 5. Alvin analyzed readings from 108 H and 108V BPMs taken by the SDA every 10 min over the several recent stores. He concludes that typical noise for a single BPM is about 0.07 mm - quite acceptable for orbit smoothing, there is some systematic drift of about 0.1 mm (in both v and H) which might be due to decaying pbars or bunchlengthening (it was subject of a lengthy discuission - seems that pbar removal at EoS would shed light on that). Vladimir.
