From: Bob Webber [webber@fnal.gov] Sent: Sunday, January 22, 2006 5:28 PM To: 'PD-Meson-planning@fnal.gov' Subject: PD Meson Planning Meeting 1/13/06 minutes Minutes of January 13, 2006 Proton Driver Meson Planning Meeting 1) Jim Steimel presented the power requirements spreadsheet that he has compiled. By version 5 it appears to have converged to a useful starting point for Leon to begin planning power layout. The scope of present estimates includes only the klystron power system, RFQ and ion source systems, RF test area, and power to racks for supporting equipment. Chris Jenson and Jim Steimel will begin to make relay rack front view sketchs to make and document rack space assignments. Leon will find relay racks that we can use. 2) Al Moretti pointed out that the current klystron/cave layout is incompatible with his vision of waveguide routing requirements. He will make sketches of what he is considering and will communicate that information to Steve Wesseln. 3) Modulator status from Chris Jensen - pulse transformer not yet shipped - no activity at this time on the charging supply, will start up with low power, "kludge" supply - initial modulator assembly may take place in Booster gallery - initial testing will be done in A0 - delivery date of modulator switch is not known at this time - all other major power components are on site - two people will continue to work on modulator through 12-14 week accelerator shutdown 4) Al Moretti and Peter Prieto leave for Toshiba on Jan. 28 to witness klystron acceptance test Bob Webber mailto:webber@fnal.gov phone (630)840-5415 pager (630)722-0085
