From: Bob Webber [webber@fnal.gov] Sent: Friday, January 19, 2007 2:47 PM To: 'PD-Meson-planning@fnal.gov' Subject: Minutes of January 18, 2007 HINS Meson meeting Minutes of January 18, 2007 HINS Meson meeting Planned agenda: Agenda Status reports and plans for the coming week by all Reports Terry Anderson - Coax switch installation is proceeding, last piece of coax to connect switch to waveguide has come out of the shop. High power load on west end of waveguide hybrid will be rotated and the cantilevered end will be supported from the waveguide itself. Design for 25Kw coax run into cave is essentially complete. Installation will follow final work on coax switch feed connections. Cage - door jam piece arrived; final cage construction items should be completed next week. Maurice Ball - Maurice was asked to provide diagram of Meson/HINS water system including various monitoring sensors (can also include ILC/CC2 LCW things as Maurice sees fit). This will be generally useful and can form the 'skeleton' for an EPICs screen to display water system parameters. Chris Jensen - Thinks he has done what has been requested by Dan Wolff and Mike Andrews prior to starting modulator testing. He's waiting to here from them that they concur. Pending this, he expects to charge modulator to low voltage and begin testing Jan. 22 or 23. Timing - Five timing channels were identified 1-modulator, 2-Prieto fwd power gate, 3-Prieto refl power gate, 4-Prieto digitizer trigger, 5-Prieto RF enable/gate. Mike Kucera will make channel assignments and distribute along with clock event definitions. Dennis Nicklaus was reminded of the request to include on his EPICS timer control widget the ability to see/change timing channel reference events. Also to include proper channel labels when Mike has made the assignments. Peter Prieto - Making provisions to accept contacts from circulator bias supply/controller for interlocking. Making cables. Has yet to test PMTs and run arc detector fibers. Then will work to commission his hardware into the system. Dave McDowell - Notified that some of his temperature readbacks are not yet working/scaled correctly. Waiting for klystron heater supply to be returned to Meson to finish testing sequencing software for that system (into dummy filament load). Controls - Webber noted some oddities of errors in trying to bring up certain EPICS screens/ Java parameter page when logged into HINS02 as SMTFOP and/or as Webber...to be continued. Reminded Dennis of request for HINSOP account and clear separation between HINS, CC2, and A0 screens so no one accidently changes parameters for wrong system. Will try to determine and distribute proper incantations to call up ACNET console on HINS01/02. Mike Kucera found it necessary to re-start HINS HRM to clear up some DAC setting issues. Dave Wildman - Three 3 1/8" RF hybrids are here. Ready for testing whenever there is RF power available. Henryk Piekarz - Has documented physical details of ion source system in attempt to pin down causes of sparking. Will meet with Jim Lackey to determine if Booster wire scanners are available and can be used for HINS (ion source initally) beam profile measurements. Needs to replace damaged ion gauge. Bob Webber - Described next 'challenge' for controls system - EPICS level feedback to adjust RF generator frequency to track cavity resonant frequency under pulsed RF conditions. 'Pseudo-cavity' circuit will be ready early next week. System will use HINS Meson RF generator, RF gate module, and timing system as pulsed RF source, Prieto-Semenov digitizer as phase detector readback interface, and HRM DAC (channel to be assigned by Mike Kucera) as pseudo-cavity resonant frequency setting knob. This exercise will demonstate the frequency tracking capability that will be needed when the first room temperature cavity is testing with RF power.
