Minutes/Action items of 2nd "Systems-Instrumentation-SDA" monthly meeting December 6, 2006 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present: J. Annala, T. Bolshakov, D. Capista, S. Chaurize, B. Drendel, C. Gattuso, K. Gollwitzer, M. Hu, E. McCrory, T. Meyer, V. Papadimitriou, J. Patrick, S. Pruss, V. Scarpine, R. Thurman-Keup, D. Slimmer, S. Valishev, J. Zagel The agenda was: --------------- 1) Status and performance of the Flying Wires over the past month Jim Zagel, 15 minutes 2) Status and performance of the the Synch Lite system over the past month Randy Keup, 15 minutes 3) Recycler transfers and instrumentation Martin Hu, 15 minutes 4) Storechecker and how we could improve it Vaia Papadimitriou, 10 minutes ---------------------------------------------------- On the basis of the discussion we had at the meeting the following action items came up: 1) The timing of the vertical wire for MI needs to be verified. (follow up from work reported in the MI log on Oct. 6) 2) Will try to fix the MI FW RFT module's recent problems in a more permanent way 3) A lot of nice work has been done to test the loss monitor at A0 in the Tevatron (the purpose is to see if we could move the E17 FW there) We wanted to know the exact location of the position of the monitor so that we find out the exact values of dispersion and beta functions there. Bruce Hanna and Jim Zagel inform us that the position is just upstream the proton abort block, between the skew sextupole and the proton abort, 24 inches from the steel of the sextupole magnet. Sasha will use this info to let us know what the dispersion is at the exact location. 4) The pbar mirror (SynchLite) move time was recently changed from ~HEP declaration to the beginning of Remove Halo. The HEP set 1 pbar data is valid now and the Supertable will change pointing the "begin HEP" from Set 2 to set 1 for SL. To make the Remove Halo data valid as well, Jerry will try to move the mirror in earlier. He has actually already done it right after the meeting (see TeV E-log Dec 6, http://www-bd.fnal.gov/cgi-mach/machlog.pl?nb=tev06&action=view&page=285&load= 14:46:24 I have moved the command to insert the PBar synch light mirror to the end of "Accelerate". - annala ) This brings the mirror in about 3 minutes earlier than before. 5) The REcycler people do not need for the time being any additional information on FW emittances in SDA than what we already have there. We could consider adding IPM information in SDA for the REcycler as soon as we know what would be useful. The RR DCCTs are the critical item right now and they are being worked on. 6) To make the StoreChecker useful again we will have to look into updating the "alarm" criteria. When that is done we could consider turning it into an OAC that couls report alarm situations into the Control Room.
