Vladimir informed about e-cloud workshop in Indiana Univ (Mar 12-15, 2007) http://physics.indiana.edu/~shylee/ap/mwapc/epws.html (let me know if you're interested). 2. Paul Lebrun shared his impressions of the ILC LET (low emittance transport) workshop which took place last week in the UK : the 5 GeV LET should be stable to 7nT @ few kHz, static main linac beam alignment is Ok but dynamic simulations (things change in time) still need to be done; results of linac simuations by CHEF somehwat disagree with other 5 codes - Francois and others are looking into that (see doc-2589). 3. GL reports: a) Yuri - TEL2 studies continue and get more encouraging data, Eliana worked out low alpha MC lattice with 108 deg/cell; Yuri found space-charge compensation in the Booster not very encouraging with just 1 or 2 electron lenses - lattice perturbations too large (will look into 3 TELs or whether faster gamma-t quads can help); b) Mike C. - Tan works on dark current kicker, Francois looks into wakefield problems in the ILC cavities; 25% ILC cost reduction was reported at the recent MAC - due to fewer DRs (2 vs 3) and only 1 DR tunnel vs 2; c) Bob W. - 325 MHz klystron modulator in MDB works( ! ), so far at 2kV out of 10 max; Jean Paul will give AD seminar Feb 8; d) Tanaji - LHC@FNAL will be open Feb 8 (ceremony Feb 12; John Johnstone found some problems in the LHC Q0 IR upgrade design. 4. Sergei Striganov reported his recent work (doc-2623): a) he studied muon background in the ILC BDS, looked into possibility of using 11 smaller (4m long) and cheap donut muon spoilers instead of few really big ones - it seems to be OK, special arttention to disagreement between MARS and another (simpler?) Lu Keller's code (difference ~x7 in the bending sections) - to be resolved; b) simulations for MERIT experiment which employes 1cm dia liquid Hg target placed across 4MW proton beam at 100mrad angle in 15 T magnetic field to generate ~0.1 muon/proton - energy spectra calculated, possibilities for diagnostic devices proposed.
