Bob Zwaska recently attended Ecloud'07 in Korea where several interesting results were reported: a) grooved beam pipe was tested at PEP-II and did NOT suppress ecloud; b) irradition of surface by few kV electrons (mC to C/mm2) greatly reduced SEY - at PSI and KEK; c) long-living electrons (~100us instead of typical 10 ns) detected in LANL PSI quadrupoles. Bob plans to upgrade e-cloud detectors in MI and install ~1m long beam pipe with suppression electrode at the bottom - to test the idea. 2. GL reports :a) Nikolai - MI Lambertson septa loss simulated and orbit bump suggested (S.D.), MTA 400MeV target (NM); K.Goudima(visitor, just left) has built quark-gluon stream model into MARS; N.M. gives 1-day MARS tutorial 05/24; b) Yuri - L.V. runs ORBIT to model PSR and Booster; new helix was introduced in the Tev at 150 GeV to improve lifetime after sextupole modifications; YA works on muon cooling channel code; c) Mike C. - there will be an ILC accelerator school at the end of July - sign up, please!; d) Tanaji - HJKim simulates RHIC wire experiments; JJ considers possibilities of slim magnets for LHC upgrades; TS works on Diffraction Radition monitor idea. 3. Dave Wildman reported successful results of MI studies with 7kV 400 ns barrier buckets (one stationary, another slips 42rfc/Booster tick) - 2,6,8,10 Booster batches were injected and adiabatically captured by 53MHz RF. The method is alternative to Slip-Stacking and promises possibility of 12-13 batch injection (vs 11 in SS), less losses at the start of MI acceleration and looks very suitable for RR in NoVA era. Next steps - inject with more (than 1) Booster turns and attempt acceleration. 4. Francois discovered a way to increase speed of high order map mxyzpltk simulations by factor of 100-1000 using monomial indexing. Now 8th order Booster map calculation takes only 365 sec on a good PC. It's a big boost for CHEF. all slides available in beams-doc-2780
