News : a)Vladimir presented new rules of salary increase distribution; b) APC celebration party Thur 4pm; c) this is the last APD meeting; d) smth like "APD meetings" (meetings of several smaller APC groups having common interests in theory, simulations, beam studies, etc) will be reinstated in a different form; e) there will be no general APC meetings - just meetings of department heads and group leaders. 2. GL reports: a) Yuri - last week there was PIC (parametric Ionization cooling) workshop at FNAL, many issues discussed (e.g. space charge); Eliana finally got good TBT data from MI, sees betatron phase dependence on N_p, though estimated impedance is smaller than what was expected; L.Vorobiev has some results on SC in MI. ; b) Bob W - Dave Wildman did first tests of his novel RF distribution system at MDB; RT CH-01 cavity wil lbe tested next week; SC spoke cavity has arrived from Europe - will be tested in ILC vert test cryostat; still not much progress with BNL laser profiler (being tested with 750 keV electrons, vacuum spoils laser effect).; c) Mike C - Jim Volk is attending ILC alignment workshop; ILC main linac lattice is in AD depository; Francois works on emmittance growth simulations due to SR in ILC undulator; d) Tanaji - LARP DoE Review next week; Magnet steering committe calls to consider testing Nb3Sn magnet(s) in RHIC or Tevatron; JJ trying to figure out whether any slim magnets could help LHC - no luck so far. 3. (Regular report) Seva Kamerdzhiev (doc0-2794) reported that horizontal TEL-1 provides positive effect on proton lifetime of ~+(20-40)% (compare with 120% by vertical TEL-2) at the beginning of HEP stores. Dependence on e-p misalignment studied. Still no good explanation why such small tuneshifts lead to very significant proton loss reduction.
