Subject: meeting notes for 4/04 APD meeting From: Mike Church Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2007 10:07:20 -0500 1) Department news: M. Church reported that there will be a LARP collaboration meeting at Fermilab 4/18 - 4/20 M. Church reported for Carol Johnstone on recent DPB (Division of Physics of Beams) of APS. Carol is a member of the DPB executive board and encourages APS member to join the DPB. APS membership is currently increasing, but DPB membership is not increasing. Also, the DPB has recommended that the PAC be changed to a 3 year cycle, so as not to interfere with EPAC and APAC. The last PAC on a 2 year cycle will be in 2011 in New York. 2) Regular reports: S. Kamerdzhiev reported on the latest results from the digital tune meter in the Tevatron. This device records tunes for each proton bunch in the Tevatron during a store by tickling the beam and using VBPMB11 as a pickup. It is reliable and accurate. See BeamsDoc-2738 for details. R. Zwaska reported on his recent activities towards high power neutrino beams. This includes work on ANU (Accelerator and NUMI Upgrades) which will eventually use the Recycler to stack protons in order to decrease the acceleration cycle time in the MI. He also discussed his work with electron cloud in the MI. Theory predicts that MI is very near the start of a sharp rise in electron cloud density and there may be a sharp increase in electron cloud effects with only a small further increase in MI bunch intensity. See BeamsDoc-2725 for details. 3) Other news: Bob Webber reports that they now have the 325MHz klystron at Meson operating at full power (2.5MW) for 3msec pulses.
