Minutes of the April 13, 2007 Tevatron Dept Meeting https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=768 * Weekly Operations Summary (Jerry Annala) - It was a rough week all around - only 28 pb^-1 were delivered over the past 7 days. There have been 7 stores with initial luminosities between 148 and 213 ub^-1/s. Only two were ended unintentionally: store 5339 aborted after only 15 minutes due to an electrical dump problem @ D2, and store 5345 ended after 14 hrs when a Commonwealth Edison power glitch tripped off the RF stations and led to a quench. While tuning early in store 5338, ops mistakenly pushed the proton vertical tune too high, causing rapid emittance growth that cut instantaneous luminosity almost in half. The D0 losses during the squeeze are creeping up again. There was plenty of downtime due to: failures in the B2, D2, and A3 dumps; wet engine failures at A2 and D1; failure of the C0 beam valve by flaky microswitches; the ComEd glitch. There were fewer available pbars, too, due to other problems across the complex. There were a couple hours of proton-only studies for commissioning the new sextupole circuits; TEL-1 also performed some parasitic end of store studies. The LARP/LHC Schottky electronics needed to be shipped to CERN, so we are back to using the old system until our own set of new electronics are built (couple of months). The B3 power supply is ready to be put back in the circuit. The A17 horz separator is reporting (spurious?) sparks while changing polarity during reverse injection tune-up. One of the C4Q5 leads seems to be running colder lately - an orifice change or trip limit adjustment may be needed. * Plans for Next Week - Try to get back to delivering >40 pb^-1 per week. - Complete the first part of new sextupole commissioning (tune-up to run them at zero current) (Jerry, Alex - 4-8 hrs proton-only) - TEL-1 studies (Seva, Xiaolong, Vladimir - parasitic during HEP) - Chromaticity Tracker (Tan - proton-only) - AC Dipole (Ryoichi - proton-only) - P1 line matching (Andreas - proton-only/during shot setup) - E48 bumper as abort gap cleaner (Elmie, Jim - proton-only) - ...
