Minutes of the Sep 14, 2007 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1265 * News (Ron) - CDF will implement their diamond loss monitor abort capability prior to start-up in October. * Shutdown Status (Jim Volk) - C4 and D1 have been cooled to 80 K successfully. Leaks were repaired on the E12-3 dipole and E12 spool package may need to be replaced. Additional vacuum investigation are still needed in A1, A2, and D3. Over 100 magnets have been unrolled/aligned. Cleaning of the ceramics is complete. Bake-out of the downstream half of C0 has begun; a procedure for baking the MI dipoles in the upstream half has been prepared. * New Squeeze Configuration I (Ron) - Ron showed a proposal for a new squeeze needed for the new collision helix. It keeps 25 steps and the same time length, but moves 2 now-redundant steps to the end to allow more flexibility to transition to low-beta. The injection-to-collision helix feeddown change occurs in lattice 12 at LBSEQ 15. Ron showed showed a couple of "features" he found: the displayed durations for the physics group squeeze ramps in the C49 application were meaningless and the "unsqueeze" is a different length than the squeeze. The first problem was fixed (get the durations from the low-beta controller that really determines the squeeze slot lengths). * New Squeeze Configuration II and New Helices (Alex Valishev) - Alex has been developing new helices for the latter part of the squeeze. He made the change from injection to collision helix feeddowns later in the squeeze. One problem he identified is the transition from low-beta to collisions on the new helix - we can no longer use a horz separator 2-bump at CDF. Suggested ideas were using a 3 or 4 bump, cogging, or just allow collisions at the end of the squeeze without a separate time ramp we use now to start collisions. Playing a vertical separator 2-bump at CDF would require changing the vertical helix in the short arc which may or may not be possible.
