Minutes/Action items of "Instrumentation-Systems-SDA" monthly meeting November 7, 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present: M. Convery, J. Crisp, C. Gattuso, A. Ibrahim, V. Lebedev, A. Lumpkin, T. Meyer, V. Papadimitriou, J. Patrick, L. Prost, S. Pruss, V. Scarpine, D. Slimmer, R. Thurman-Keup, J. Zagel We discussed the following: -------------------------- 1) Main Injector FW measurement of beam sent back from the Tevatron during reverse injection cycles and Main Injector IPMs. Jim Zagel 2) Status of TCPORT Jim Patrick 3) MI and RR DCCT status Aisha Ibrahim/Jim Crisp 4) The MI longitudinal emittance algorithm commissioning and the status of SBD and Synchlite Randy Thurman-Keup ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Conclusions-Action Items: 1) It looks like we will be able to perform regularly and reliably the measurement of beam sent back from the Tevatron during reverse injection cycles with the MI flying wires. Dean checked that data is being collected now during reverse proton injections. Jim will check on how the data look like and after Tom lets us know what is the "offset" of the corresponding devices Vaia will introduce the emittances in SDA in the "eject protons" case. 2) More work is needed to make the Main Injector IPM data more easily usable by the Systems people and more easily comparable with FW measurements. The IPM devices have to go into ACNET and later in SDA. 3) TCPORT: a) tcport was switched to Linux over the shutdown. The ported version was restructured a bit from the VMS version. b) Its basic function was OK, but it turned out to be not robust against systems connecting/disconnecting. It turned out to be easy to make it fail with a test program. c) It was restructured again, and a test version cannot be made to fail like the current version. It is ready to install, and the plan is to do that on Nov. 7. It seems to work OK now. 4) Several modifications/improvements were implemented in the MI DCCTs and a new DCCT system (Bergoz) was installed for the Recycler. The new RR DCCT has undergone several evaluation, calibration and frequency response tests. The effect the MI ramp has on its response and a Recycler bunch length dependence are under investigation. 5) The original plans for testing the improved Main Injector longitudinal emittance algorithm (similar to the Tevatron algorithm), had to be modified and some more testing time is needed. 6) There is an alarm now on Sync Lite and on TeV SBD everytime the TCPORT list stops updating. Randy plans to ask the Tevatron people to inform the operations crew on how to handle such alarms. Our next meeting is scheduled for December 5, 2007.
