Minutes of the Aug 29, 2008 Tevatron Dept. Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2011 * News - October 6 is the start of the 4-day "mini"-shutdown. * Weekly Operations Summary (Andreas Jansson) - The Tevatron delivered 50 pb^-1 to the experiments this week - not bad considering two separate downtimes for a wet engine overhaul, B3 power supply knife switch repair, and a 10 hr access for D0 and crystal collimator installation. There have been 9 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 250 and 288 ub^-1/s; all terminated intentionally. The B11 vertical separator sparked during store 6377 and caused a 30% drop in luminosity. Losses at D0 during initiate collisions were reduced significantly by making some coupling and tune adjustments. Beam loss during the squeeze has been increasing recently; there are a couple of "step" losses for both pbars and protons that need to be addressed. The pbar injection kicker has some timing issues to fix - that could explain some of the larger pbar emittances observed occasionally. * Chromaticity Tracker Measurements (C.-Y. Tan) - From a 150 GeV drift study two weeks ago, Tan compared chromaticity measurements from his horz chromaticity tracker with measurements made by hand - they agree within 0.5 to 1 unit. It still isn't clear why the chromaticity seems to jump up after injecting with fresh beam. * Plan for Next Week - Deliver luminosity - lots of it. - Pbar injection kicker timing (Dan, Bruce - during shot setup) - Chromaticity/tune drifts @ 150 GeV (Viktoriya, Jerry, Ron - proton-only) - Multi-bunch proton injection (MI and Tev groups - proton-only) - Chromaticity tracker (Tan - proton-only)
