Minutes of the May 8, 2009 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2558 * News (Ron) - A computer security audit team will be visiting next week - maintain your vigilance! A safety note: if you will be working in a service building or other remote location for an extended period, bring a buddy along so you won't be alone in case of injury. * Weekly Operations Summary (Bruce Hanna) - The Tevatron delivered 109 pb^-1 to the experiments over the past TWO weeks. There have been 17 stores with initial luminosities between 194 and 341 ub^-1/s. Only 1 store was lost unintentionally - store 6997 ended after only 1.3 hrs when CHL lost their operational cold box due to a leak. The Tevatron was down for ~48 hours while cryo experts recovered the helium plant. An additional turbo pump was added to the D3 insulating vacuum (known leak) and a leaky Pirani tree was found on the C49 separators (to be fixed in long shutdown). The automated coupling measurement/correction application has been failing - it seems there is a timing problem with the kicker or BPMs used for the measurement. An attempt to recable the proton/pbar sides of the E3 BPMs failed - it caused large differences in the reported measurements; it was reverted. There has been some tuning to reduce D0 losses and emittance blow-up of the 11th or 12th bunches of each proton train during the squeeze. * UEC DC Trip (Ron) - Ron went on the annual trip to Washington, DC with the Fermilab, SLAC and US-LHC users' groups to visit with representatives and senators and/or staff members to advocate basic science R&D and thank them for their support. 43 people made the trip to visit ~195 offices. Overall, it was a positive trip - educational, too. * Plan for Next Week - Deliver luminosity. - Welcome back our colleagues who attended the PAC in Vancouver. - Diagnose C101 timing problem (Bruce, Eliana, proton-only, shot-setup) - Low-beta lattice measurement (Alex, proton-only) - P1 line lattice measurement (Alex et al., proton-only) - Bumper as abort gap cleaner (Bruce et al., proton-only) - Electron column with TEL (Alex and Alex, proton-only) - Chromaticity tracker (Tan, proton-only)
