Minutes of the July 24, 2009 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2707 * News (Ron) - Monthly AD employees will start using the FTL electronic effort reporting system the week of Aug 31. (See slides for more info - I updated them since the meeting.) Congratulations to Jerry Annala on his 25th anniversary of working at Fermilab and helping the Tevatron achieve the performance it has! * Shutdown Status (Jim Volk) - A3 (A34 spool), D3 (several outside air leaks), E3 (replace power feed can, replace conning tower on E35 spool) all successfully leak-checked and passed hipots. F2 (outside air leak on feed can) repaired with vac-seal, so no need to warm up. F1 single-phase leak investigation about to begin. A1 already at room temperature. A2 may need to be warmed up to address possible ice ball in beam tube after outside air leak. Mechanical support going to 2 crews (one day, one night) for leak checks, repairs. Only 3 more Tev magnets to unroll, few magnet stands to replace. Hydrostatic level system maintenance good progress. Other maintenance ongoing. * Tune Spread Control with TEL (Aleksandr Romanov) - Aleksandr summarized his work here over the past 6 months. He tested the gaussian and SEFT guns in the teststand and fixed the Gaussian gun beam profile. He created analytical models of the tune spread compensation for both guns - it is much faster than full-blown simulations and easy to visualize the effects of shifts and tilts between the electron and proton beams. Maintaining offsets < 0.3 beam sigma is critical for the compensation.
