Minutes of the 10/02/09 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2816 * News (Ron) - We will be scheduling performance review meetings real soon. * Weekly Operations Summary (Xiaolong Zhang) - The Tevatron delivered 26.8 pb^-1 to the experiments over the past 7 days. There have been 6 stores with initial luminosities between 197 and 253 ub^-1/s. Only store 7226 was terminated unintentionally when an apparently flaky abort module channel pulled the abort (no quench). We continue to address higher than desired proton loss at 150 GeV, pbar loss on the ramp, and proton losses during the squeeze. The BPM problems appear to be resolved. There were numerous problems in many subsystems this week: injector kicker trips, RF anode supply trips, A4 vertical separator trip on load resistor termperature (plugged water line), E1 cold compressor tripping off during stores, C49 Kautzky valve helium leak, overheated electrical disconnect for a sextupole power supply, TECAR crate power supply failure, and a few more. The PBJ (pbar noise source) emittance growth rate is ~30% smaller than before the shutdown; a problem with the PA is suspected, so the spare amplifier needs to be prepared. * P1 Line Matching (Alex Valishev) - Based on pre-shutdown data, some changes were implemented in the P1 line to improve matching between MI/P1/Tevatron. Interestingly, no improvements or worsening of the incoming proton emittances were observed with the changes. Now that the Tevatron BPMs seem OK, the round-trip measurements (MI->P1->Tevatron->A1->MI) done before the shutdown should be repeated hopefully with turn-by-turn IPM data. * Plan for Next Week (All) - Deliver luminosity. - Keep working on beam losses. - P1 line studies (Alex, Ming-Jen, proton-only) - HEP tune mult calibration (Ron, end of HEP)
