Minutes of the March 12, 2010 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3200 * News (Ron) - The CDF and D0 spokespersons are toasting 8 fb^-1 delivered luminosity this evening in the Users' Center - come join the celebration. AD folks should make sure they are charging their effort to the various projects as relevant. * Weekly Operations Summary (Bruce Hanna) - The Tevatron delivered > 63 pb^-1 to the experiments over the past 7 days. There have been 8 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 319 and a new record 354 ub^-1/s; 4 of the 10 top highest initial luminosity stores have occurred this week. All stores have been terminated intentionally. We are still pursuing the proton losses early in the squeeze, as well as the pbar losses on ramp and at initiate collisions. The pbar continue to blow-up longitudinally prior to HEP; RF experts are waiting for parts to build new diagnostics for the cavities. The A2 wet engine needed a complete overhaul last weekend, interrupting aperture scans at B0 and D0. A D11 horz separator power supply driver failed earlier this week and was replaced. The B1 tunnel sump pump failed and caused some minor flooding; a temporary pump seems to be working fine. The E11 horz flying wire apparently still has a wire, but additional work needs to be done to restore normal operation. * TEL-2 Beam-Beam Compensation Studies (Alex Valishev & Giulio Stancari) - There has been good progress recently. The gaussian e-beam was successfully aligned to pbar during the pbar-only store. While working on a single pbar bunch during HEP, they successfully demonstrated they can be parasitic (no high losses) with e-beam current up to 0.6 A. (As long as the tune does not hit the 7th order resonance.) The generated tune shift seems consistent with expectations. Current effort on making better single-bunch tune and tune-spread measurments. * Plans for Next Week (All) - Keep delivering luminosity at excellent rate. (Another week > 60 pb^-1?) - Lattice measurments at flattop & LBSEQ 14 (Alex, proton-only) - Aperture scans @ B0, D0 (Bruce, proton-only) - Investigate/try 5% larger collision helix for HEP - 150 GeV Chromaticity Study (Tan, proton-only) - Pbar-only store to work on tunes on ramp (many)
