Minutes of the 3 Sep 2010 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3577 * News (Ron) - The Fermilab Physics Advisory Committee has recommended extending the Collider Run through 2014. * Weekly Operations Summary (Bruce Hanna) - The Tevatron delivered 37 pb^-1 to the experiments over the past 7 days. There have been 8 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 167 and 282 ub^-1/s. Two shots ended in quenches before reaching collisions: one apparently was a training quench, while the other was caused by beam loss while initiating collisions. One store, store 8051, was aborted after only 2.2 hrs when the F3 cryo vacuum suddenly went bad; we are still trying to fix a leak in-situ, but it could very well require a warm-up to repair. We have been fighting changing orbits exacerbated by CDF collision hall HVAC changes and stuck ventilation louvres in A4. We have also changed our orbit-smoothing scheme to improve of the position and angle through the interaction points. The TEL-2 hollow e-beam gun was timed to the abort gap and saw no effect on the bunched beam (good). * A Summer with Crystal Collimators (Alexander Vlasov) - Alex, a summer intern from Moscow State Univ., gave a nice summary of his work helping analyze the many, many crystal collimator scans with various crystals. They verified fitting functions that describe the observations from the various phenomenon (channeling, volume reflection, etc.) and compared simulation and data. They also confirmed the Gaussian profile expected for channeling efficiency vs crystal angle. * Plan for Next Week - Hopefully deliver luminosity if the F39 vacuum leak can be repaired. - Tune mult calibration (Ron, 2 hr EOS)
