Minutes of the 17 Dec 2010 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3896 * Weekly Operations Summary (Bruce Hanna) - The Tevatron delivered 62.4 pb^-1 to CDF and D0 over the past 7 days. There have been 11 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 170 and 338 ub^-1/s. Store 8351 ended after 14.8 hrs with a quench at E1 after the A49 horz separator sparked. Store 8361 aborted after 11.8 hrs when a faulty electronics card caused the F1 beam valves to close. We are still tweaking the collimator orbit bumps during the squeeze to reduce losses at the experiments. Since losses are better in the squeeze, we have reduced the pbar-jacking time at flattop to get brighter pbars. The pbar sync-light mirror is being inserted before the squeeze begins. The new pbar longitudinal damper is being tested/commissioned with protons. There is a sudden loss of pbars when initiating collisions; this is likely caused by beam-beam effects which can be remediated by tune/coupling adjustment. * Hollow e-Beam Collimation Studies (Alex Valishev and Giulio Stancari) - Alex and Giulio have been conducting parasitic studies with TEL-2 acting on single pbar bunches during HEP stores. They have found that "resonant pulsing" - pulsing every 6 turns can cause emittance growth and luminosity lifetime reduction, but no particle loss. However, when pulsing every turn they do see collimation without any impact on luminosity. * Plan for Next Week (All) - Deliver luminosity. - Tune-ups to help get through long holiday weekend. - A number of studies if proton-only time becomes available.
