Minutes of the March 11, 2011 Tevatron Dept Meeting https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4216 * News (Ron) - We were encouraged to proceed on more detailed planning for up to 2 weeks of accelerator physics studies at the Tevatron. * Operations Summary (Bruce Hanna) - There were only 3 HEP stores since last Friday's meeting before the shutdown that started Monday morning - initial luminosities ranged form 333 to 365 ub^-1/s. Another shot was lost during scraping when a longitudinal instability occured and caused high losses on the collimators that had yet been retracted from the beam. Two recent quenches during beam injection was found to be caused by a subtle problem in the timing of events which trigger charging and firing of the abort kickers; the problem should now be fixed, but we need to verify during start-up. * Discussion about Shutdown Work (All) - Magnet roll measurements were completed. There has been obivous changes since last measured/fixed in Oct 2010, but only several magnets are rolled more than our 1 mrad preference. Two new multi-strip crystals were installed into the vertical crystal collimator goniometer. Modifications to the pixel detectors were not totally successful; only 3 of the 6 work. The E3 sump pump was repaired. Lots of cryo and vacuum maintenance occurred. The PAK3 abort kicker has a new thyratron and trigger circuit; a loose high-voltage connector on AAK1 was repaired. Fluorinert sight glasses on several separators were replaced. * Start-up Plan - After turning, we will do some extended dry squeezes to help get tunnel temperature back to normal and to test the abort kickers. We will see how much additional tune-up is needed after smoothing the orbits and measuring tunes, coupling, etc. Hopefully we can put in the first HEP store by midnight, then return to normal cycles of HEP operation.
