Minutes of the 6 May 2011 Tevatron Dept Meeting https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4431 * News (Ron) - The Director says the Tevatron will run through the end of September. * Weekly Operations Summary (Dean Still) - The Tevatron delivered 78 pb^-1 to CDF and D0 over the past week (Fri 7 am - Fri 7 am). (At one point during a "rolling" 168 hour window, the weekly delivered lumi was > 82 pb^-1.) There were 8 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 376 and a *new record* 433 ub^-1/s. All stores were terminated intentionally. While it was nice to string together all those >400 stores, we'll be backing off a bit to maximize delivered luminosity with initial luminosities the experiments can handle a little better. A couple of those high lumi stores also had large longitudinal instabilites early on. The temperature of a power lead on a D0 low-beta quad had been jumping around, but it has settled down; a cracked washer on the flag bolt may be the cause. A small water leak was repaired on the TRF 6 power amplifier. A very good week for the Tevatron. * Hollow e-Beam Study (Giulio Stancari) - A parasitic study was done during a recent HEP store. The hollow e-beam was applied to 1 pbar bunch train with various electron currents and hole sizes. New gated loss monitors were successfully tested to measure the losses from each bunch train individually. The monitors are even capable of observing the beam losses from protons in the P2 line on the way to Switchyard. With the new gated loss monitors, they can do readily measure the beam diffusion and collimation efficiency of the hollow e-beam. Additional studies are being planned. * Discussion on Plan for Next Week (All) - Deliver luminosity. - Separator scan (mid-store) - Crystal Collimator (T-980, 3 hr EOS) - Hollow e-beam (Giulio et al., 1 hr proton-only, short end-of-HEP) - Lumi-Leveling (Ron, mid-store - lower RF voltage, gradually ramp over few hrs while CDF & D0 take data) - Pbar Longtudinal Damper (Tan et al., proton-only)
