Minutes of the 24 June 2011 Tevatron Dept Meeting https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4563 * News (Ron) - Tevatron Dept folks should send accomplishment reports to me or Jerry by July 8. * Operations Summary (Tan) - The Tevatron delivered a fantastic 144 pb^-1 to CDF & D0 over the past 2 weeks, including new record 78.4 pb^-1 for the official Monday-to-Monday reporting periods. There have been 20 HEP stores with initial luminosities between 195 and 408 ub^-1/s. (15 were > 350 ub^-1/s). Three stores were lost prematurely due to aborts (but no quenches) from a dipole corrector trip, spurious bad vacuum indication, and a lightning-induced glitch. One shot was lost upon acceleration due to human error - a chromaticity change was entered incorrectly into the ramp tables. TRF3 tripped off during one store, and a cryo engine flywheel required repair. The CPU for the C4 BPM crate was replaced. Longitudinal pbar blow-ups early in stores have become infrequent - correlated with TRF2 PA change in mid-April? * Lumi-Leveling Test (Ron) - In the middle of store 8829, the RF voltage was lowered 50% to lengthen the bunches. Luminosity decreased 13%, in agreement with expectations. DC protons and pbars were generated; the TEL cleaned out protons, while the pbars gradually spiraled into the collimators as typical after an RF trip. Over ~3 hours, the RF was raised gradually to keep the bunch lengths constant. CDF and D0 operated normally during that time. The luminosity lifetime was higher, as expected, since the bunches were not allowed to lengthen. The RF was then restored to normal for the remainder of store. Based on this successful demonstration, the next step is to try it at the start of a store for "real" luminosity-leveling. * Plan for Next Week (All) - Keep on delivering luminosity. - Hollow e-beam studies (parasitic during HEP) - Proton longitudinal damping (Tan, shot-setup) - Pbar longitudinal damper (Tan et al., proton-only - Lumi-leveling (Ron, start of HEP)
