One of the major goals of the Proton Improvement Plan (PIP) is to double the beam throughput in Booster. In order to accomplish this goal, the Booster RF system has to operate continuous at a 15Hz repetition rate, which is a factor of two over the current running conditions. The expected increase in RF duty factor triggered a series of necessary upgrades to the Booster RF system which address capability and reliabilility issues. In this talk, we will present a brief history of the Booster RF system along with details of recently completed RF system upgrades. We will also describe an overview of some technical challenges of the Booster RF cavities mechanical refurbishment, discuss the current scope and status of the work.
