Abstract:
A study was made to determine if it was practical to move the location of the interlocked gate separating Switchyard Transfer Hall from most of F-Sector tunnel in the Main Ring to a spot further upstream in F-Sector. It was hoped that this would allow greater access to F-Sector with beam in the Main Injector. From a radiation safety perspective, it was possible to move upstream a large distance. However, the existing configuration of power distribution system made making this change difficult operationally or very expensive. The conclusion reached was that it was NOT practical to move this gate upstream from its present location.
