Notes from Main Injector/Recycler Group Meeting Wednesday, 6 November 2002 Bruce C. Brown Cons Gattuso -- Recycler Operations Using protons and the new operation of the RR at the MI injection momentum, injection from the RR and acceleration in the MI with 85% efficiencies has been achieved. Work continues on commissioning and debugging the BLT (beam line tuner). Preparations are underway to accelerate PBars. The transformer for the VDPA power supplies has a water leak and 4-5 hours are needed to replace it. Shekhar Mishra -- RR Operation and Near Term Plans A shutdown is planned for CDF Collision Hall work on Nov 12. We may do plan to transfer a 120 mA Accumulator stack to RR at that time. Will try to use a 20-30 mA stack from the Accumulator tonight. We think we are ready for the ~250 ps time change in the cooling systems implied by the new RR momentum. We wish to move the momentum change from the h(i) to the g(i) table. When will we go back to protons to continue to work on compensation of the MI Ramp effects? Shekhar Mishra -- Review of 'Big Ticket' Items A review of items which have important budget impact in FY03 will be carried out in the next week or so. Vacuum -- Krish Gounder and John Marriner [the money has been spent but we will review it anyway]. Physics Requirements Technical issues BPM -- for RR and MI -- Brajesh Choudhary and Martin Hu [The news in the present budget plan is not bad but...] In addition to work on the RR, need to present plan for MI which may need to include 53 MHz clock upgrade. The shutdown plan has been announced. A 3.5 Week shutdown will begin on January 13. For the RR this will include: MI30 sector Vacuum work Transfer Line vacuum window removal (with pumping addition). New Longitudinal Schottke installation Flying Wire upgrade And More sectors of Ion Pumps Bake 8 sectors TSP Magnetic Shielding PreAmp upgrades for BPM's The Accelerator Advisory Committee Meeting has been postponed from November 2002 to February 2003.
