Notes from Main Injector/Recycler Group Meeting Monday 18 November 2002 Bruce C. Brown Cons Gattuso - RR Operation Update Measurements on Friday showed reduced transverse admittance for the RR compared to measurements before the momentum shift. We now observe 30 pi-mm-mr in both planes whereas we reported 40 vertically and 50 horizontally before. New scraper measurements were made with protons. Momentum aperture also not as it should be. A bump at the 328 Lambertson improved that situation but more attention is needed at the 400 and 214 Lambertson locations. Shekhar also mentioned that the injection efficiency and initial lifetime of protons is must be looked at as additional symptoms of problems with new operational situation. The graphic display capability of the RR sequencer continues to be enhanced. As a way to code maintenance nightmares, two virtual devices have been added to permit the code in one sequence to handle either protons or pbars and also allow for tuneup along with stored beam. These virtual devices are called V:RMODE and V:RRTUP. One can get further information on them using D88 [States Device Manager]. The status of V:RMODE is shown on the graphic display screen. Shekhar Mishra -- BPM Specification Review Announcement Next Monday (Nov 25) there will be a review of the RR BPM Specification. Reviewers include Mike Martens, Dave McGinnis, Dave Capista, Valerie Lebedev and others. Brajesh Choudhary -- BPM Specification Document The document which is being prepared for review on Monday was examined. Extensive discussion ensued including issues of operational modes (2.5 MHz, 7.5 MHz, Barrier Bucket and perhaps 53 MHz), dynamic range and software requirements. Suggestions for document organization were also provided.
