Short description of quicktime movie files: ------------------------------------------- These are taken while running the calibration of Synclite with variable timing of the gate. The gate width was 670ns and for calibration the timing of this gate is usually set to be within the abort gaps between bunch trains. This was done at the end of store 2439(?) which is just a normal store, to look at beam in the abort gap. synclite_gate38.mov This short QT click was taken with the gate set to look at a proton bunch (#35) with normal HV showing the location of the beam. The calibration is initially on and then turns off halfway through the movie. You should look at the left of the screen at the window labeled "proton cal". synclite_gate151.mov This 200MB file shows when the gate is set about 1 BS (=132ns) away from bunch #12, and the HV is set to 730V. Note that BS revol was set to 4 (i.e. gate every 4th turn - it turns out that the long width pulser cannot be gated more frequently than this without it turning off.) You can see some of the image captures show some beam, the beam is not necessarily elliptical nor in the same place as the normal beam. After all 100 proton images are captured the sum is made and is renormalized, hence the green colour. We should change this to to better able to view the summed image. You can make out a spot in the correct position. The pbars are done after the protons and nothing is seem but BS revol was set to 30. This will be repeated another time. First we want to see if we can see anything in the abort gaps with the TEL off. synclite_gate154.mov The gate is set a further 3 BS into the gap, so (396ns) further from bunch #12, just in case we were seeing the tail of bunch #12 in the previous movie (synclite_gate151.mov). One can barely make out some beam in a few image captures.
