Notes - Instrumentation/beam physics meeting - Nov 17, 2004 A. Agenda: 1. Tev flying wire status and changes - Nate Eddy - AD Doc 1464 2. Synclite status and changes - Randy Keup - AD Doc 1460 3. Tev and MI FBI A. Action items Flying wires 1. If Tev agrees, instrumentation and SDA people want to fly every proton injection now that the multiple scattering is so much less? It would be useful to test the effect on D0 and CDf of flying the thinner wires during a store. 2. Parasitic studies to adjust for new wires - which will measure the losses. 3. Improve Flying Wire OAC and make it the source of all FW emittance calculations. ( meeting to finalize this Wednesday Dec 1, 1:30.) a) create ACNET variables with for the current best lattice parameters for injection, flattop, low beta. Set them to the values in doc 1465, with the idea that they will eventually come from the measured twiss parameter database. Datalog and store in SDA Conditions case. b) Remove emittance calculation from FE. Put this flying wire only emittance calculation into the OAC. Use ACNET lattice parameters. c) Keep the uncoupled emittance calculation for E11 and E17 using the SBD for dp/p in the OAC, use ACNET lattice numbers, but uncoupled approximation? d) Add new coupled emittance calculations to the OAC as defined in Doc 1465 and use the ACNET lattice numbers. e) Have the OAC give the freshness number of the data it uses for its emittance calculations as an "OAC freshness number" so the two can be compared to look for synchronization problems. f) Get the new stuff into SDA and dataloggers 4) Can T46 get emittances from OAC? synclite 5. Get the pbar mirror movement into the sequencer. 6. Do the synclite study plan as outlined in doc 1460. 7. Learn to use the synclite simulation program and compare to diffraction study. 8. The SL rms as reported by the frontend will not have a diffraction contribution subtracted. 9. Create a synclite OAC analogous to the FW OAC to be the source of all synclite emittance calculations. a) What to use for diffraction subtraction? b. Use ACNET lattice parameters Tev FBI 10. Will need calibrating, maybe a timing adjustment due Resistive wall monitor changes. MI FBI 11. Add a pbar sample and hold intensity analagous to the proton qualifier. B. Details 1. Tev FBI. a) moved to the other RWCM (resistive wall current monitor). The RWCM has been rebuilt. It still has the same share of the signal. This was done so the SBD can have it's own RWCM. ( See document 1475 which has a diagram.) b) Calibration will be needed since RWCM is rebuilt. c) Timing may need adjustment. d) No changes in ACNET variables, except for the calibration OAC e) No dedicated studies needed. 2. MI FBI - no changes 3. Flying wires - See document 1464 a) E11 has 7 micron wires b) see action items above. 4. Synclite a) see Document 1460 b) see action items above.
