MI SBD meeting, tuesday, Sep 14, 2004 Attending: Alvin, bob Flora, Alberto, Chandra, Dave Capista, Jean Next meeting: Tuesday, Sept 21, 2004 Action items: 1) fix existing MI SBD to give numbers for 2.5 MHZ pbars at injection into the MI - details listed below. ( Bob Flora) 2) scope profile as a file of numbers for protons at 120 just after bunch rotation, i.e. just before extraction to pbar target for Alvin. ( Chandra will get it from Kyomi). Alvin also needs to know the BW and sampling rate of the scope. 3) From the above file, determine what makes sense in terms of BW and sampling rate for the new scope - Alvin 3) (future) - what online displays are there in MCR from the new Tev SBD? Details: 1) Chandra show slides, which I will get and add to the document. He showed typical pbar distributions at injection form RR and MI. He described the algorithm he uses to get 95% longitudinal emittances a) offline, obtain a relationship between the rms and the full width that includes 97.5% of the beam. b) ONline, calculate the RMS, use the above relationship and a formula to get the longitudinal emittance and dp/p. 2) This algorithm will be adapted in the existing MI SBD for 2.5 Mhz. a) The additional point at 8Gev will be called SDB00 or SBD05 to avoid SDA headaches. b) The current algorithm will be used with hte necessary extensions to change the equations. Chandra will be sure Bob has the correct equation. c) It's believed the scope has enough memory for 5 sweeps. 3) Chandra showed an updated list of requirements for the new SBD. This will be added once I get it from Chandra. 4) There was some discussion of the proton torpedo style plots as to whether or not they can be produced by the SBD. This argues for a new scope with ethernet. A new computer is just pocket change compared to the scope. How good a scope in terms of BW and sampling rate is still unclear. We need Alvin's analysis of the post bunch rotation data. The current display uses a VSA?
