Information is yet needed from Al Moretti to finalize layout of components and coax inside cave. There may be technicians available to do the installation before holidays, so design decisions and remaining procurements are needed ASAP. Objective is to be prepared to test room temperature cavity in cave as soon as klystron has been commissioned. Terry will give Dave Augustine walk-thru of the area next week. Modulator - Chris reports that Howie is working on modulator check-out list Chris needs from Al Moretti a list of trip levels (high and low) for all klystron interlocks that affect modulator. Expecting final part needed for modulator-to-pulse xfmr cable assembly to be completed in machine shop tomorrow. Needs Jim Biggs' time to complete modulator controls electronics loose ends. Chris has 'unopened' email from SLAC, presumably news (hopefully good) on switch assembly testing. Big parts for final charging supply now in crates in MDB. Discussed possibility of assembling this in final resting place. Assembly will not begin soon. Mike Andrews - Plans general 'get acquainted' walk-thru of MDB HINS area Monday afternoon with safety committee. Roof leaks worse since work on it began. Proper people are aware, but not clear what if any temporary fixes can/will be attempted/accomplished. Maurice - Compressed air needs to be piped to klystron output window. Webber for Kucera - Demonstrated ACNET control and monitoring of HRM local application PID closed loop controlling output of electronic circuit simulating, for example, cavity resonance control. Geoff Savage/Dave McDowell Report that EPICS-PLC communication is working. We hope to see demo in next week's meeting. Dennis Nicklaus - Reports that he now has EPICS communicating with HINS HRM in MDB; there had been network problems. Waiting to hear from Alexei Semenov and Paul Joireman concerning solution of digitizer glitches. Next week we hope to see from Dennis in next week's meeting - 1) demo of HRM timing channel control through EPICS and 2) demo of plotting data from Semenov digitizer. Peter Prieto - His crate is not yet in MDB, awaiting work on Semenov digitizer issues. Meanwhile he is planning on having his techs install cabling in MDB needed to route signals in and out of his crate. Ken Koch was identified as a possible source of help for this and related electronic tech work. No reports from Moretti or Hays. Scattered discussion on interlock issues Given our RF system's ability to drive different loads at different time, we need to define plan on how to cleanly handle equipment interlock inputs from loads/user areas that are temporarily inactive. For example, don't want to shut down on test cave cavity vacuum interlock when running RF power to test cage. McDowell's PLC is apparently already about full and Chris suggests possibility of separate PLCs so as to not mix apples and oranges. It's probably not wise to keep feeding more and more separate interlocks into one PLC because of the possibility of disrupting an interlock that has already been tested. Need to keep the interlock chain clean, secure, and easily testable. Bob Webber mailto:webber@fnal.gov phone (630)840-5415 pager (630)722-0085
