From: owner-pd-meson-planning@listserv.fnal.gov on behalf of Bob Webber [webber@fnal.gov] Sent: Friday, March 02, 2007 2:56 PM To: PD-Meson-planning@fnal.gov Subject: Minutes of Thursday, March 1, 2007 HINS Meson meeting Minutes of Thursday, March 1, 2007 HINS Meson meeting Planned agenda: Agenda: 1) Discussion of status and requirements to make March 19 klystron commissioning date. 3) AOB Reports and Discussion Bob Webber - Sharon has attached all or nearly all of our active devices to the 'proton driver' datalogger with 5 sec logging period. This will facilitate check-out of klystron heater power supply sequencing. Discussion of readiness for klystron turn-on March 19 indicated that we should delay one week. KLYTRON TURN-ON DATE IS NOW MARCH 26. Toshiba personnel will be notified. Chris Jensen - Modulator has been pulsed at 10 KV!! Congratulations to Chris, Howie, Jim Biggs, and all who have gotten it this far. EE Support Dept. Safety Walkthru of the modulator was successfully completed and has approved un-attended operation. Mike Andrews will follow up on this and issue final approval for modulator (not yet klystron) operatation from AD ES&H. Chris' "to-do" list for modulator still ~28 items long; many items have been completed but new ones get added. New item for "to-do" list is to do test connection of HV cable to klystron to assure proper fit and connection. Chris raised concerns of marginal water flow to pulse transformer and modulator. He and Maurice agreed to talk. PLC permit input to modulator has been checked; modulator responded properly to PLC signal. Solenoids have been run and currents calibrated. There is a question of ripple on at least one of the supplies that needs to be checked out. Heater supply is back in place. Sharon Lackey Has begun EPICs screen for LCW system parameters. Al Moretti - Will present draft of klystron commissioning plan/procedure at next week's meeting. Maurice Ball - Compressed air now connected to waveguide and installed to 3" coax. Dave McDowell - Compressed air flow meter is wired into PLC. Dave noted that air flow is not very stable for any setting of the flow control valve that Dave tried; Maurice is to investigate. Air flow reading not yet available in EPICS pending work that needs to be done by Geoff Savage. Raised concerns that some of the klystron temp trip levels given to be used in PLC are already very close to being exceeded even without power being put into the system. The questionable trip limits should be revisited at some time; for now we'll give Dave the right to say "I told you so." Also for next week, Bruce Hanna/Dan Bollinger will present draft "start-up day" check-list. Bob Webber mailto:webber@fnal.gov phone (630)840-5415 pager (630)722-0085
