Minutes/Action items of "Systems-Instrumentation-SDA" monthly meeting May 2, 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present: T. Bolshakov, D. Capista, B. Drendel, C. Gattuso, K. Gollwitzer, I. Kourbanis, V. Lebedev, C. McClure, E. McCrory, D. Nicklaus, V. Papadimitriou, J. Patrick, L. Prost, S. Pruss, V. Scarpine, R. Thurman-Keup, D. Slimmer, J. Zagel, D. Voy We discussed the following: -------------------------- 1) A30 BPM status Duane Voy/Keith Gollwitzer 2) Flying Wire status Jim Zagel 3) Status of the SBD and the Synch Lite systems Randy Keup 4) Longitudinal emittances, 90 vs 95% Vaia Papadimitriou 5) Longitudinal emittances at MI, extending the TeV algorithm? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusions-Action Items: 1) AP30 BPMs: After the replacement of a Kinetic Systems CPU card on April 26 we seem not to require anymore reboots. No errors recorded so far; the system is under observation. There will be an effort to upgrade to new MOOC/Acnet by the end of the summer shutdown. 2) Flying Wires: a) A plan needs to be developed to address the loss of the RFT phase lock for the Main Injector FW system. b) chisquare alone does not provide a good way to indicate poor quality signal. Additional variables will be investigated (eg. Amplitude over noise) that we may use as an indicator that the signal is of poor quality and therefore take action. 3) SBD and SL: a) There are occasional problems with TeV SBD and SL systems related with TCPort problems. In those cases the connection goes away and the data become stale. An Acnet device is now in place to monitor the problems but we did not have any of that type for about 6 weeks. When we have a couple and the Acnet system is validated, we plan to set an alarm through a Tevatron OAC. b) MI SBD occasional 0 emittance values are under investigation. 4) The TeV longitudinal emittances are reported as 95% numbers. The same is true for the Recycler. We have now introduced in the pbar Supertable a 95% emittance as well for the Accumulator. Main Injector long. emittance is currently a 90% number. When the algorithm is changed and improved (see below) we will include in all tables a 95% number for the MI emittance as well. 5) We decided to start as soon as possible on the work needed to upgrade the Main Injector longitudinal emittances so that the new algorithm can be available and validated by the end of the coming long summer shutdown.
