Minutes of the Aug 3, 2007 Tevatron Dept Meeting https://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1097 * Weekly Operations Summary (Xiaolong Zhang) - The Tevatron delivered nearly 40 pb^-1 to the experiments this week. There have been five HEP stores with initial luminosities between 221 and 282 ub^-1/s. Implementing a corrected low-beta lattice has allowed us to return to high peak luminosities attained earlier this year. Store 5589 set an delivered luminosity record for a single store = 11.1 pb^-1. The Recycler set a record stored pbar intensity (475 E10) and the past two HEP shots have been in the top 3 in terms of injected pbar intensities. All stores have been terminated intentionally. There was a B11 vertical separator spark during store 5588 that cut the luminosity by 30%. The pbar injection closure system had been providing stale data for 3 consecutive shots - experts are pondering a more robust way to monitor the various pieces to identify problems before noticing them by the resulting emittance dilution. For store 5590, the first bunch of each pbar transfer was blown-up transversely - a kicker timing problem is suspected. * D0 Aperture Scan (Bruce Hanna) - Bruce summarized the recently completed aperture scans made at 150 GeV with uncoalesced protons. There is plenty of aperture on the central orbit and proton helix. There were some inconsistencies in the pbar helix scans. Three-bump scans showed smaller than expected apertures. One idea mentioned was a (45 degree) vacuum valve that may not be retracted all the way. That idea, as well as the usual survey and alignments, will be checked during the upcoming shutdown. * Plan for Next Week (well, until the shutdown begins) - Current HEP store scheduled for termination this evening @ 19:00. - Conduct the B0 aperture scans (Bruce - 2-3 hours). - Begin shot-setup for the last HEP store before shutdown. - That last HEP store will be terminated @ 20:00 Saturday. - New collision helix studies (Ron, Jerry, Alex + others - 2-6 hours) - New horz short arc helix - measurements on central orbit, proton helix - Look at new pbar helix, helix closure, AC dipole measurements) - All the above require changing separator polarities, so that's why we want this study to be last - risk of sparking during next HEP store. - No more beam from MI starting 00:00 Sunday (so try not to lose our beam!) - Begin Tevatron warm-up to 80K 09:00 Sunday
