Minutes from the 19 Dec 2008 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2270 * News (Ron & Jerry): We are changing our machine coordinator rotations to be two weeks long. Jerry will be organizing the daily on-call schedules for each calendar month. * Weekly Operations Summary (C-Y Tan): The Tevatron has delivered 56.8 pb^-1 to the experiments in the past 7 days, but we did deliver a record 73.7 pb^-1 during the official Monday-to-Monday reporting period! There have been 9 stores with initial luminosities between 205 and 348 ub^-1/s. Two stores were lost unintentionally: store 6647 was lost after 6 hours due to an electrical safety system ground fault (that went away during investigation), and store 6660 was lost after only 2.6 hours when the VC39 dipole corrector output dropped to zero and caused the beam to drift into the E1 collimator and cause a quench. During the squeeze for 2 shots, the pbar emittances grew; the squeeze will be tuned up today. The VA47 dipole corrector has been running near its current limit; small bumps will be used to reduce its current. A tuning mistake during store 6641 caused the pbar tunes to get pushed onto the 3/5 resonance, blowing-up their emittances and taking a bite out of luminosity. Both the B4 and D4 wet engines needed maintenance this week. During an access this week, several vacuum pumps were swapped or fixed, the D13 power leads were inspected for a helium leak, and instrumentation was repaired/added for the crystal collimator. * Low-Beta Lattice Update (Alex Valishev): Continuing on work reported at last week's meeting, Alex found using a different number of Singular Values gave a more robust result, eliminating what he had suspected was a systematic problem. It appears the recent changes in the optics are caused by rolls in the D0 triplet quadrupoles. Corrections can be made using the SQC4 and SQD1 skew quads, but SQC4 will be running close to its current limit and the beta* at both CDF and D0 are increased a small amount. More investigation into the ground motion/quad rolls are needed. * Plan for Next Week - Deliver luminosity with stable running over the holidays. - Tune up the Squeeze (proton-only) - Abort-gap cleaning with bumper magnet (Bruce, Jim, proton-only) - Chromaticity Tracker (Tan, proton-only)
