Minutes of the Jan 16, 2009 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2330 * Weekly Operations Summary (Dean Still) - The Tevatron delivered over 56 pb^-1 to the experiments over the past 7 days. There have been 7 stores with initial luminosities between 179 and 352 ub^-1/s. One shot was lost during the squeeze with an unexplained quench at C22 that seems identical to a similar mysterious incident in June 2007. Store 6718 was lost unintentionally after 12.6 hours while testing new software modifications for the subsequent shot-setup; a clock event mistakenly allowed to be enabled caused dipoles used for injection bumps to ramp up, cause beam to move into the a collimator and cause a quench. The new scheme for moving collimators was implemented in store 6715. The E11 BLM was configured to pull the abort via high losses during HEP; this is the first (new) BLM to be unmasked for HEP operation. Two-bunch proton injection has been operational since shot 6723; there is on-going work to modify/improve software to handle it robustly. We are testing code to set the tunes and chromaticity automatically during shot-setup. The QF28 ramp card showed clock errors following the shot lost in the squeeze; the card was replaced, although it is not suspected as a cause of the quench. * Recent Lattice Measurements (Alex Valishev) - Alex made 2 measurements to help us understand the issues at D0. Measuring the lattice at 150 GeV show that the optics remain essentially unchanged since Oct 2007. The accuracy of extracting the D0 triplet roll at 150 GeV is not enough to verify differences between low and high energy. Alex also made a low-beta optics measurement using additional correctors; it was consistent with the Dec 6 measurement - strongest skew quad errors from the D0 triplet. Alex did develop a possible correction, but it's not terribly appealing; SQC4 would need to run close its limit and a small beta-beat would be introduced into the arcs as a result of changing D0Q2 to keep the CDF beta* from changing. * Plans for Next Week - Deliver luminosity to CDF and D0. - Test automatic tune/chrom settings (Jerry, during shot-setup) - Tune mult calibration (Ron, end of HEP) - Add H-tables to DFGs (Ron et al., 2 hrs, between stores/during downtime) - Crystal collimator (Dean et al., end of HEP)
