Minutes of the Aug 21, 2009 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2758 * News (Ron) - If you haven't applied for your "services account" password, do it soon - you need it for the new FTL effort-reporting system. * Shutdown Status (Jim Volk) - A1-A3 still warm, almost ready for cooldown. D1 warm, D11-3 dipole replaced, ready for hipot. E1 warm, outside air leaks found. C4 - bad O-ring on vacuum port replaced, no need to warm up. B3 - lingering issues after removing iceball from B29 turn-around box. RF cavity water leaks repaired. Vertical crystal collimator installed. Magnets unrolls and stand replacements complete. Quench bypass switch at F46 back in wall. Still some water level work and cryo maintenance to be done in CDF collision hall. * Startup Planning (Jerry Annala) - Jerry outlined an initial plan for recommissioning the Tevatron after the long shutdown. The machine should be cold (4K) around Sep 8, power supply check-out would follow. Separator conditioning can start before the machine is cold. We made no fundamental changes to the Tevatron, but ~80 magnets were unrolled. We are estimating about 1 week of around-the-clock shift work: establishing new orbits; lattice measurememts at injection, flattop, low-beta; tune-up the basics tunes, coupling, chromaticity throughout the entire cycle; possible pbar-only store to make lattice measurements on pbar helix and check helix closure for collisions; check-out of dampers and instruementation. There will likely be a colliding-beam store after ~3 days with beam, followed by additional commissioning before easing into a "normal" HEP schedule.
