Minutes of the 2 July 2010 Tevatron Dept Meeting http://indico.fnal.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3455 * Weekly Operations Summary (C-Y Tan) - The Tevatron delivered > 109 pb^-1 over the past 2 weeks. Over the month of June, we delivered 261 pb^-1 to CDF and D0 - our 3rd highest month ever. We have now exceeded 2 fb^-1 for FY10 (since Oct 1) and already delivered more than our previous best year. (Congratulations to all!) There have been 19 HEP stores with initial lumiosities between 182 and 357 ub^-1/s. Only 2 stores were lost unintentionally - store 7926 was aborted when a yard breaker for the RF system tripped off, and store 7929 aborted on high losses from a separator spark that kicked protons into a collimator. Store 7932 was lost during the squeeze when high losses caused a quench of the CDF low-betas; the orbit angles through the IP were not good. There were a number of problems over the past 2 weeks. The pbar injection kicker timing needed adjustment to eliminate mis-steering of the first bunch of each transfer. A nearby lightning strike damaged a controller for the B48 separator. Occasional jumps in luminosity over a few stores were tracked down to the polarity switch of the C49 vertical separator; internally there were open connections to the plates in the tunnel, so it was replaced. * Low-Beta Lattice Measurement with Pbars (Alex Valishev) - This was the first successful optics measurement using pbars! Using the orbit response method with 60 correctors, Alex measured the optics of the pbar helix low-beta lattice used for collisions; he estimates 15% uncertainty on the beta function values (slightly worse than measurements with protons.) Compared to the proton helix, there is significant beta beating in the vertical plane. Differences in coupling seem to arise from the triplet quads, although there may be some in the arcs, too. The beta* values are similar for both proton and pbar helices; perhaps a little larger for the pbar vertical. We expect such proton and pbar lattice measurements to be helpful. * Discussion on Plan for Next Week (All) - Deliver luminosity! - TEL-2 abort gap cleaning test (Xiaolong, end-of-store) - Longitudinal density studies (Tan, during shot-setup or proton-only) - TBT coupling measurments (Eliana, proton-only) - 3x3 store (Alex, Giulio)
